BEWARE-Timewasting Home Insurance Quotes through Confused

I have been (and always do) following MSE's excellent advice in searching the market –this time for home insurance

I have wasted an hour of my time through the ‘best quote’ on Confused.com. I have given the same feedback to Confused and their ‘top quoter’-‘Prestige’

Prestige quoted via Confused and said they could offer buildings and contents insurance for a competitive price. You then need to speak to them over the phone (for 1/2 an hour)-just like the old days of insurance quotes, to run through exactly the same questions i completed on the Confused website. Even though I had provided the same answers over the phone as in the Confusedquestions, they subsequently inform me they can't offer that insurance at all as all of the criteria of their top insurer (they are a broker) ask for are not met.

This goes completely against the whole point of the Confused (and other similar) websites existing; in that insurers are provided with enough information to generate a robust quote which can be delivered rather than luring customers into a time wasting additional quote only to give you adifferent, higher price or worse, tell you they can’t provide insurance.

I have suggested Confused seriously consider removing Prestige from the group of companies they go out to for quotes.

Hopefully this will avoid too many others suffering the same frustrations and put pressure on Confused and co. to winkle out any timewasting insurance brokers.
