Reminds me of a wedding I went to. In the bridegroom's speech he explained how difficult it had been to sort out the seating plan. Then he and the bride agreed to arrange guests in order of the gifts they had given. Then he 'named and shamed ' his friend at the back of the room who'd given a tea towel!
    I think it was a joke.:D

I'd love to know what everyone else was buying/giving them for them to think £100 was cheap!

I saw this on Twitter a couple of days ago (and retweeted it!) and wondered when it would get posted on here!

My first thought when I saw it was "Cancel the cheque". Ungrateful g*ts.

I hope they do get ousted.

If this story is true and there is no reason to think it isn't, then it's outrageous of the bride & groom to send that email, what a sense of entitlement they must have.

My DD got married last year and received gifts of money ranging from £10 to £100 from family & friends, they were just very grateful for what they received and didn't disrespect anyone who gave less than others.

I briefly read about this earlier and wondered if it was some sort of publicity stunt for something. But it does seem true now if it hasn't came out it's a stunt by now!!

I then remembered my OH worked at a wedding the other day and said the bride and groom at the latter part of the reception sat opening cards and counting up all the cash and writing it all down. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe they wanted to write a list of who to thank for what gift if they were going away on a really long honeymoon the very next day or something, but they didn't touch the wrapped gifts, just everything in envelopes and I can't see them deciding to just sit and want to read their cards in a darkened room with the party still going on. Seemed a bit rude and grabby to do it infront of the guests! (Some had gone but others were still there!)

I would give them the benefit of the doubt for being organised and knowing who gave them what. They didn't need to mark the other gifts as this would have been wrapped with gift tags on but money in envelopes could get mixed up more easily.

Is it really bad of me to hope they feel so much in the right that they agree to be interviewed to put their side ? I'd love to hear their rationalization of this !

AS long as some grubby paper or TV programme doesn't pay them for their side of the story.
