Problem with Vaillant boiler trying to fire up when it shouldn't!

The Turbomax has a "warm start" feature that kicks the boiler in periodically to top up the hot water supply. Could this be the firing you are experiencing ? If you look at the knobs on the boiler, one has a picture of a tap on it. Turn it as far anti clockwise as it goes ie to minimum, wait for 10 secs +turn back to original position (NOT TO MAXIMUM !!) to turn off "warm start".

Hi Budgetflyer- tried your advice in all combinations i.e water off, running cold water and running hot water..... no joy- but thanks anyway, it was deffo worth a try!

will ring the original plumber (who has since emigrated to Oz!) to see if he can shed some light on the shock absorber idea (thanks canucklehead and Eliteheat......keep them ideas coming:D)

The warmstart facility is only on the Turbomax plus range and not the pro range which is the contract version of the boiler
