O/S Daily Thread for Wednesday 11th May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

Rain forecast again today so the washing is over the maiden.
I joined a writers circle last night, it was enjoyable and only £3 so meetings won't break the bank.
I'm off to work in a sec, hubby needs help because of his broken thumb, then I'll go to DD's to help with the school run, then back to work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning, thank you for starting us off Hester.

I shall be mostly office based today, then have to go and see two lots of people who live quite a long way apart so it is likely to be a pretty long day. But that is only one long day for this week.

It us wet and chilly here, yesterday's washing still on racks, am hoping that it might be dry by the time I get home.

Am considering waking up OH to take me to the bus, as it is raining heavily now but don't think he will be impressed, somehow!

Hope you all have a good day.

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread HH.

Another beautiful morning here, it's going to last until Sunday I think. I've got nothing planned for today except a bit of emailing and online checking of my students. I hope to be mostly in the garden.

My 'English' nephew has bought us tickets for a gig on Friday in Glasgow, it's being held at St Andrew's-in-the-Square which is a new venue for me.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

Loving the weather here at the moment although didn't see much of it yesterday with work being so busy.

Went to the cinema to see Florence Foster Jenkins, it was ok, funny and sad at the same time.

Washing dry and put away, not enough ironing to bother just yet.

What a loss dumpling! Well done to you, bet you feel great.
Sorry you didn't get the job Speky but there will be something out there for you soon.

Off to DDs after work with her window boxes, will probably fit in a trip to Costc0 too, we can share a side of salmon for the freezer. Hopefully she will provide tea!

Have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH now up and getting ready for a more normal start time. DS1 up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Now light, dark, dreich, and raining again, very wet underfoot with lots of laying water, rained nearly all day yesterday, today is forecast much the same, but then better tomorrow. I'll get going with the washing when I get in from work later so it's ready to peg on the line first thing tomorrow morning. I'll endeavour to get the whole lot line dried.

Dinner last night was a choice of either chicken en croute or hunters chicken, as I only had 2 portions of each, I served those with hot new potatoes, and green vegetable medley (green beans, minted peas and baby brocolli) with gravy for those that wanted. Was delicious and clean plates all round. Tonight could be spag bol, but DH could be late, so will decide later, I have several options.

Work was ok yesterday, today I'm working in an office on my own and working all day, then I'm off until Monday, I have quite a few bits I want to get done on my days' off and of course we'll be out all day Sunday as we're seeing family and I'm cooking lunch for them. Yesterday DH went to see immediate family of passed away relative, and they were with them when they passed away, and I got definite confirmation that MIL and FIL were not there at the time relative passed away, so I'm feeling quite cross and angry that I made sure they had that opportunity and they did go as they arrived whilst we were still there, we got the impression that they were there to stay as they were saying they had said to ill person that they would be there at the end, and then they left not long after we did, there was no reason to leave before it happened. Ugh, families, I suspect it'll kick off more today as today is the day the first official stuff is going to be done.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Pouring with rain here and has been most of the night, it will be quiet at work today which is great as it means I can get loads of admin work done, I am slowly getting there with the backlog, there was about 8 months worth of admin to catch up on :(

Mums for dinner tonight I love Wednesdays as no cooking and we get to sit and chat with mum for a while. I need to do a wash tonight too.

Evie's brother came down last night OH sister has him, so they met up last night, bearing in mind they have not seen each other for a few months they had a whale of a time running round, she wore herself out !

Specky so sorry you did not get the job xx

Dumpling, well done you !! that's a fantastic weight loss xx

Right, have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Dull here with fine rain at the moment, the sunny weather is supposed to be coming back tomorrow, still the rain has been good for the garden.

Work was busy yesterday but at least grumpy boss had the day off, she is certainly susceptible to mood swings, have learnt just to keep my head down and get on with it!
Went to see Bill in the afternoon, he was very muddy so spent ageing grooming and generally pampering him, bless him he fell asleep :)

Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks x

    Good morning peeps!

    Happy hump day.

    Hope you're all well.

Received a text from aunt to let me know my gran (her mum) has been taken off IV drips and she's refusing food and drink. She'll either deteriorate rapidly or balance out. The pessimist in me says the worst.

I've not had an opportunity to catch up on your posts. I'll read them when I'm at my desk.

Sorry to hear about your Gran Speky I'm hoping for the best for her x

I was given three footstools a while ago, they're quite big and two are tatty. I'll keep the good one and will recover it eventually. I'm sure I can alter the other two, I want to use them as storage boxes so I'll carefully take one apart today and see what I can do with it. I've also ended up with a large kitchen trolley, it doesn't actually fit anywhere but I really like it, lol. It's a bit tatty so needs a good sand down and varnish. I was just searching for something similar on google images to give you an idea of what it looks like, I found the exact one, it's from Ikea LINKY

It's tipping down at the moment, I won't be going out til it eases off. I opened the back door for Scampi, he stuck his head out the door, gave me a look that said 'nope!' and trotted off into the other room to curl up on the sofa. It's alright for him, I still had to go down the garden to let the chickens out, I got soaked, lol.

The washing is taking ages to dry, I think I'll have to wash the towels again, they're still a bit damp and don't smell very fresh. Not much else to do here, I'll just be pottering about today.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a misty, rainy morning here at the moment. I hope it will brighten up later but we will see. It is my grandson's 5th birthday today so I rang him up preparing to sing to him but he was spared the sound of my croaky Happy Birthday as he was at his dad's house. My daughter said she will bring him round after school and I was to be warned he is very very excited :D:D.

My friend is coming here this morning after she has taken her daughter to school so I am looking forward to seeing her. Before she comes I am going to prepare all the veg for tea so I can relax afterwards. I swapped the meal plan around so we are having curry tonight instead. I cooked two chickens yesterday and I am going to challenge myself to see how many decent meals I can get out of them.

Speky, I hope your gran manages to pull through and I am sorry you didn't get the job. I hope there will be an even better one for you on the horizon x

nmlc, I hope things don't kick off and your family manages to remain calm and respectful but I know it's probably unlikely from what you have said. I hope you and your OH manage to help each other through the whole situation x

Gers, enjoy the sunshine and I hope you have a peaceful recharging kind of day x

camelot, I really want to watch that film, it sounds right up my street. Hopefully it won't take too long to come out on DVD x

Well I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
