    Yes, of course. But it's also about relating the tip to what things can buy over there. I wouldn't know where to start. £1 a day could be exceedingly generous for all I know!

    It's a relatively common thing taking a car and driver in Sri Lanka, actually cheaper to hire a car with driver than self drive, as insurance costs would exceed those of the driver.

    You can vary the tip but there are accepted guidelines, as with many developing countries the driver would make most of his money from tips so unless they are terrible it's best not to be too tight.

    Unfortunately it's been a long time since tips were for exceptional service (anywhere)! It now seems more commonplace for it to be in lieu of an appropriate wage.
