I get the impression that the Americans really want to make life as difficult and unpleasant as possible for overseas visitors.

Every time I've had to go there (on business) the whole process has changed.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Just so I've got this right. Issued after October 2006 - you're 100% ok anyway?

Between march 2006 - october 2006 - you need to check.

    Before 2006. Need new one.

I checked mine anyway. Can see that symbol on the details page (small icon top right) but not on front cover at all?

Is this correct? But than all our passports are post 2006...
  • Hi All

I’ve successfully completed the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) form in advance on behalf of a family member. Unfortunately I didn’t take a note or copy the Ref Code/Number at the time, I was expecting an email confirmation containing all the information as you do for example when you purchase products online.

Is there a way of getting back into the ESTA system to get the Ref Code/Number for our application?

    Regards,

    Mr Douglas

Try clicking the "Check ESTA status" on the website, although it doesn't matter as you don't need the number.

    on the official website https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
click on - Check Existing Application
then on next page - Check Individual Status (confirm and continue)
then - I do NOT know the application number
enter passport details, DOB, names etc and press - Retrieve Application
  • Hi All

I found out how to find the information.

I have said that for years, until I got to check in at Norwich airport this year and they asked for the printout, ( i had the number but it wasnt enough) they took our passports to a different room and came back after about 5 minuts and said it was ok but they werent happy we didnt have print out.

we have travelled through norwich a few times and never been asked before
