Roofing electric supply

Hello

Wondered if I could pick your brains.

I recently got a quote for a roof and the roofer mentioned the fact that on the side of the house there is an electricity wire that connects mine and the neighbours house. It's not on the roof itself but on the outerly edge of the house below the barge boards.

He mentioned 'making it safe', has anyone ever had any experience of this? Do I need to get in touch with an electrician?

Maybe he's tapped in to your electricity meter? I would suggest it needs checking to see what it is. Is the roofer sure it is an electricity supply cable? Could it be TV or satellite?

Does it look like this?power.jpgIt may be an old unused power cable that used to be delivered via overhead lines to one house, then along the wall to the neighbours. You need to see where it goes see if it's connected to anything

The house I lived in as a kid was linked to neighbouring houses by a cable which provided the Rediffusion service, an early form of cable TV. A possibility.
