Capital One Retentions?

Hi all,

Does anybody have any experience with Capital One and their retention efforts?

I'm about to close a CC which I have held for about 5 or 6 years. In that time I've had very little by way of limit increases, balance transfer offers etc..

In comparison I've been with Barclaycard for about 1yr, my credit limit was increased after 3 months, I've had several offers for 0% balance transfers and money transfers, they seem to be almost monthly.

As mentioned above I'm now in a position where I'm about to cancel the card, as soon as my next statement is received, the balance will be cleared in full and I'll be on the phone to close my account. Just wondered if they tend to offer any 'deals' when at this stage? I'm not in desperate need of the card but I am a sucker for a 'freebie' but going on what I've had from them so far I'm not holding my breath

None what so ever, capital one are rubbish for everything you want in a credit card.

Let us know though if you do.

I cancelled my Capital One card when they stopped the 1% cashback.

    There was no retention offer.

I've had my Capital One card for 18 months, started with a £200 limit, they raised it to £700 after 9 months and has stayed there ever since. I'm not holding my breath for another increase any time soon. It'll be the first card to get canned when my credit report is looking a bit healthier.

I've had my CapOne card for well over 10 years and the limit has never increased (although it is £15,000).

Don't believe everyone's tales of how bad they are - I still get tiered cashback up to 1.25%.
