Hello,
I am after some advice... we have just had an offer accepted on a beautiful house in Cheadle Heath (Sherborne Road.) We LOVE the house but we are unsure of the area....
I know Cheadle Heath has its good and bad parts... but the street seems fairly nice. I cant find much on the internet about it, but can anyone give any advice on the area before we fully commit to the house purchase?
Thank you!

I don't know Cheadle Heath I'm afraid so probably not much help.
When I was looking for a good area to live in Manchester I always drove round at night to get a feel of what its like. It gave me an indication as well of what parking would be like if the house doesn't have a drive.
Its also worth looking on the police crime map.

Where do you live now? Do you know Manchester at all?
Cheadle Heath is a nice area, but you'll be paying a lot more for the same amount of house than you would in other perfectly nice parts of Greater Manchester.0 -
It's all relative.
Cheadle Village itself is the nice area.
Cheadle Heath isn't. But depends on what you class as nice.0 -
How much is it, what sort of house, what do you want from the area you live. It's half way to stockport, something of a backwater. But it depends what you want.0

Hi
Thanks all for your messages.
Its a Victorian (i think?!) semi detatched and its £190k. I am currently renting in West Didsbury and know i could never get a property for that price around here! So the move to Cheadle Heath would mean that im close to Didsbury. I know the two places are very different but i guess i can walk to Cheadle Village and nothing is more than £5 in a taxi!
i did have a stake out last night outside the house! It all seemed ok. I get the feeling that the street and surrounding streets are actually quite nice, but then there are some very dodgy neighbourhoods close by. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated!0 -
I have friends in that area, one lives just the other side of morrisons. I've always liked the area and never had any trouble walking home at night, the only problem we sometimes had was parking, there were more cars per street than space for cars, but no damage ever has happened to cars.
Nice and near to morrisons and aldi and great links into Manchester for good shopping.
And there's a hat museum too! What more could you want0 -
My son lives in Cheadle village -very nice area. My niece lives in Cheadle Heath - not as nice, but as Alchemist says, it's all relative. All you can do is visit at different times, knock on doors and ask people in the neighbourhood. My niece is happy there, although parking can be difficult. Let us know how you get on.0
