    Same for purchases - DCC is rife in Ireland.

    Always ask them to charge in Euros when you hand your card over, and check the PIN pad shows EUR amount not GBP. Also check the receipt doesn't show GBP at all - as some terminals allow the retailer to convert the currency after you've authorised! The receipt should ONLY show Euros.
