Rental Agency Declined Rental Exchange Scheme

Hello,
I would like to join the rental exchange scheme, but the estate agency who I pay my rent to has said no. They say it is against my rental agreement which states rent should be paid directly to them and they are not prepared to amend the agreement to include a third party.
I don't want to move house, so I don't see I have a lot of options.
Has anyone else been in this position? Is there anything I can do?
Thanks,
Jamie

Try asking your landlord.0

You can't force them to use it. They may well feel it is of zero benefit to them.0

Hi Jamie
In time this sort of concept may catch on with a wider range of landlords, but it is not a statutory scheme and so for now it is likely to be pot luck as to who is signed up to it.
Perhaps it is something the agency/landlord will be more willing to look at again when the existing tenancy is up for renewal. That said, the agency may well try to then charge the fees that apply when agreeing a brand new tenancy as opposed to a renewal - it certainly wouldn't surprise me.
