Buyers Solicitors Talking To Water Company About Flooding

    Chill. It'll happen when it happens. If it falls through, it falls through. Would YOU buy a house with a history of flooding based only on the seller's say-so?

    In the meantime, concentrate on making sure that your purchase is ready to go as soon as possible, because your seller is also going to be getting antsy about this delay from down the chain.

    Surely the water company should still tell me given the enquiry is about my property and I had to given written permission for the water company to be able to talk to the solicitors in the first place. Would be strange to then say sorry we can't discuss what details have been divulged.

    Also it's not that the water company haven't replied I don't think - it's that they haven't given them all the details that were asked for.

    Regarding concentrating on our onward purchase - that is all still progressing - at the moment this issue isn't holding anything up. Besides, it's not the case that by trying to help speed up this side of things I am slowing down the other side - both can progress at the same time!

    Yes most probably did - I was never disputing whether I SHOULD have told them or not!

    Do you have any paperwork from when the remedial work was done? I know when my previous house was flooded due to the local council, I got a letter from them after they had carried out the remedial work. I sent the letter to my insurers (as they had put a higher flood excess on until the work was done) but also kept a copy which I provided to my buyers when I sold, so they didn't ned to contact the council directly.

    You could contact the water comapny directly yourself asking for the specifc details which are required, but I suspect thaat they will respond in their own time to the buyers solicitors whatever you do or don't do.

    I'll have to check but I don't think I got anything through specific to the remedial works that were done but it's a good point so I'll have to have a look when I get home tonight as that would probably help if I do!
