Insurance for "travellers" caravans

does anyboby know of any good companies that will insure "travellers" type caravans??

most of the insurance companies online let you go through the entire form filling process before they inform you that the do not insure Hobby, Roma, LMC, Tabbert or Fendt caravans, which is flippin annoying. They could just state it on the main page and save the hassle!!!!!

I own a Tabbert comtesse twin axle which is sited and never moves and i cant find an insurer to cover it.

Any advice from similar owners would be appreciated.

I know all about the legalities about towing it, before anyone tells me that i can't, and i will be happy to advise anyone about towing these types legally.

    Have you tried Towergate.

They have schemes for static and touring caravans.

Not sure what you mean by traveller. Does this mean you are a traveller or the caravan brands you mention are associated with travellers? I had a look at the manufacturers website and they certainly seem to be aimed at the general public.

The Towergate quote page has a section marked "assumptions" and when you look under caravan there is no mention of these brands.
I have surveyed caravan parks (statics) for insurers in the past and have never been asked to identify any of the above brands and ensure they were not placed on cover.
  • the caravans mentioned are the makes most commonly used by travellers and gypsies, and therefore most commonly stolen by the unsavoury members of the community, and as they are often unregistered in this country (most are made in germany, and they will go to great lengths to steal one) it makes them very hard to trace.
My van is secure and has been cris registered and tagged

A lot of insurers online quote pages are there for standard risks only. They normally have a telephone number for you to call if the online version says no quote.

The telephone based advisors have more flexibility so could probably insure one of the above mentioned makes, subject to certain security requirements for instance. 'Fraid it means hitting the phones though for an hour or so.
  • most of the online companies state that these types of caravan are unacceptable to their underwriters, ruling the call out
