I Got A £5000 Refund From 1990's Barclays Mortgage Care !

I had two unnecessary Mortgage Care products in the 1990s early 2000s. on two separate Barclays mortgages. I had tried to reclaim on these a few years ago, but did not have the account details - and guess what - neither did Barclays when I enquired as they said they didn't keep records that far back !
Fast forward to this year and tidying out the loft and "yippee !!!" - no, not a family heirloom I found, but a stack of old bank statements from the 1990s/2000s....and you've guessed it, all the Mortgage Care policy details.
Now 'magically' Barclays have traced these policies (so much for saying they didn't keep records that far back). Have now received 2 cheques totalling £5200+ !!!
Pity that another £1000 went to HMRC in the process though.
Hope this inspires someone else to tidy their loft !!!!
