Paying credit card off

Hello there I am in the progress of applying for a credit card. But need to know a couple of things.

I live in a village and the nearest bank is a few miles away and is not always convenient to use.

So I am looking for a card that I can either pay off at the post office. Or at a pay point. I have tried to apply for a post office credit card but I got turned down.

Thanks in advance

Set up a direct debit with your bank for either the full payment or the min payment each month and you can pay more through internet banking. You can pay at the post office when your statement comes through but remember takes a few days to reach your card provider.

Use this checker see what cards you may be able to get https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/eligibility/credit-cards/

But you do have access to a computer and, presumably, a smart-phone as well. Even modern ATMs (of your own bank) allow you to make all kinds of transactions. There is also telephone banking.

Use those devices for your banking.

The days when you turned up at the bank branch, presented a cheque 'pay Cash' to draw your spending money for the weekend have long gone.

I got my first credit card in 1986.

I always paid the bill at an ATM.

Since 1999 I have always paid the bill via online banking. No need to use a branch.
  • Sorry should have said I would be using a lot cash to pay it off.

I think You need to work out what your card does. I hired cars from Enterprise regularly at one point and always had the refund quite quickly. Hopefully yours will be through before your statement.

Do you have a bank account that lets you pay cash into the post office?

If so, pay cash into that account and then pay the credit card using online banking.

I know you said you live in a little village but is there a large supermarket nearby or nearer than the bank. I have a savings account with Tesco, so if I have cash I can go to the customer service desk and put it in and then when I get home I transfer it onto my credit card. I prefer doing this than going into town as hate struggling to park etc and as supermarkets have huge free parking (Usually) its much easier. Just an idea :) ps it takes minutes to show in my account although states it can take a bit longer.
