Hb & ct

Is HB & CT paid in arrears?

My partner just started work, will we be paid HB for the next 4 weeks or will it instantly be cut off?

Thanks.

HB is paid in arrears. You should get one more payment if your income is high enough.

Your council tax will be recalculated and you will be sent a new payment schedule. Keep paying the payments that you are currently required to make until you get a new payment schedule.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Thanks, what do you mean by if your income is high enough? I won't be eligible to claim anything with my income as I have already checked, no reduction for CT, and nothing for HB.

Therefore I should still receive an extra 4 weeks worth?
  • Your Housing Benefit ceases from the following Monday after your partner started work.

You might get a 4 week run on - Extended Payment Benefit if you were in receipt of a qualifying benefit for 26 weeks and the job is expected to last 5 weeks or more..
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

All we was claiming was HB & CT. Are you saying I won't get an extra payment? The poster above you said I will do?

Your Housing Benefit ceases from the following Monday after your partner starts work. You need to contact your Local Authority now to claim the run on and advise them of your partners wages so they can use a notional income to calculate any possible entitlement based on wages.
