PPI Newbie on mothers behalf

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to the forums and was hoping I could gain some advice from the experts in this corner of the MSE Forums.
My mother is not a native English speaker so has sometimes found it hard to understand bank letters with all their jargon. I've been wanting to help with her PPI claims for an old store card and current credit card. I'm fairly certain the PPI on the store card was mis sold as it was opened in the store by a sales assistant and my mum doesn't remember it being mentioned.
The issue I'm currently having is that her old store card (House of Fraser) is currently owned by New Days. I sent them a letter 5 weeks ago requesting the original card agreement that was cancelled around 2005 but have received nothing back. Unfortunately she has not kept documents that far back so I'm wondering if this line of enquiry is worth pursuing? Quite annoyed New Days Ltd have just ignored the letter but it's fired me up for getting compensation on my mums behalf.
Has anyone had success getting PPI back from this particular lender and this far back? As it's over 10 years old would they even still have the credit card agreement?
Thanks in advance.

PPI was only regulated in 2005, so presumably she took the card out before then so they can just refuse and dismiss a miss sell claim.
A complaint with no documents to uphold it is stopped in its tracks. Word of mouth is no use at allmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The Santander > FOS > Genworth route is currently proving successful for claimants who had store cards around 2000 with Burtons, Top Shop, DP, Debenhams, House of Fraser and so on.
You don't need any documents (although it saves time if you have these, as a CCA, bank statements etc will show a date).
I called Santander's PPI team and they were able to provide the store card & policy numbers over the phone. I then sent the PPI Qs in the post and my OH received compensation within 6 weeks. Although it can take longer. Genworth's addresss is on the link. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Thanks for the info Mersey. Just tried clicking on that link but it leads me to a '404 page not found' webpage. Do you know of an alternative link or the Genworth address by any chance?
I heard Santander had taken over these cards for a period of time but had no idea they would still have access to old card holder information. I will give this a try tomorrow!0 -
Not to worry, I typed in some keywords on google and found the link. Weirdly it's exactly the same as the one you posted. Just seemed to work through google.0
