BPO Collections strikes again!

I noticed several posts about this debt collection firm a few years ago. My husband has now been targeted! We apparently owe money to Sky (we have not had a Sky account for about 10 years). So I phoned Sky and was told that the account in question was for a person living in Hull ( my husband and I live in South Wales and have done so for, in my husband's case, 65 years and in mine, nearly 40 years!) Furthermore, my husband's email address, which I set up for him at Christmas, has been linked with the account of this person in Hull. Sky said they could not phone the firm and tell them and I am not inclined to spend money on phoning them. I tried replying to the email but the server did not respond. What is it with these people!!!

Change his email addy, then relax.I have been targeted on one of my BT addresses, up to 100 carp emails a day. I have told the important people of the new address and will be dumping it. Nothing to worry about.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Send them ONE cease and desist letter by recorded delivery. Underline the Protection from Harassment Act. Tell them they may only contact you by post. Tell them that after 7 working days you will charge them £150 per email/telephone call/sms/visit received.

    Send invoices if anything received.

  • BPO Collections sent a couple of e-mail's to me about an alleged £40 debt to SKY from a family member back in June, then July.

Interested, I replied to the July e-mail demanding them to definitively PROOVE the alleged debt, along with other info. One actual written letter was received in July, dated before I wrote my e-mail reply, but recieved a few days after. In short, it took X amount of days to arrive. Royal Mail huh? OR them sending the letter days after it was written to put the scarers on about "If you do not respond to this letter within *BLAH BLAH* amount of days from the date of this letter"....Effectively giving you just a few days at most to respond, to a letter dated over a week before?

Feeling cheesed off, I decided the phone call was in order. Seeing as they named my family member, she had to speak to the "lovely" lady agent to give me permission to handle things on her behalf. I record all calls, so no doubt about the call content can be had.

The fun began. After being forced to talk over her scripted rubbish, I demanded to be shown in writing, 3 things they require in order to prove a valid claim. Denial first, then on repeating myself, an admission she had no idea about the things I was asking for, and that the system could not produce said articles. I was told they would refer the alleged "debt" back to their client..........

NEVER trust a DCA. You may know their said "claim" is rubbish, a fantasy. They will keep writing, bullying. Even threaten "Court action MAY or MIGHT occur". Always notice the wording, often "MAY or MIGHT occur". Dull, hollow threats. They may also add in their official looking, but only threatening letters, that they MAY add a default to your credit file. Only the alleged OC may add a default.

BPO is the same as the other DCA scumbags. Agents with no power, OR they are buyers of debts. In that case, they have paid any debt off for you. Check it out, don't fear their bully boy tactics.

do not send by recorded delivery , they can decline the letter , then its not deemed as served!

send by first class , from the post office with free proof of posting , deemed delivered in two working days
