Yahoo Email Storage ... Is this a fake email ?

I have just received this email, which looks to me to be fake.


Am I right in assuming this ?

We detected irregular activity on your Email account on 09/05/2016 For your protection, We are sorry to inform you that your online account has been temporarily locked after too many unsuccessful login attempts was made.

Unfortunately, if we do not hear from you, certain limitations may be placed on your account.

Please click on your email below and follow the Instruction to your account restore access.

just realized I have done what I hate to see myself, links and no text. Personally being a yahoo user myself, I would deem it spam.

If you can login, it hasn't been locked, and the e-mail is definitely spam.

Lost count of the number of supposed Paypal e-mails to tell me my account has been restricted, locked, or they 'need to check my information'. I go to Paypal, login, or pay for stuff through eBay, and - surprise, surprise! - it still works fine

One of the biggest pointers to spam/spoof/phishing is that they address you by your e-mail address, instead of Dear John, you get Dear [EMAIL="email_name@Yahoo.com"]email_name@Yahoo.com[/EMAIL]

I actually tried to send an email to that account and all was well.

I think I was 99.9% sure it was fake, but just wanted others here to see and beware of similar.

Yes, I too have had Paypal locked emails .. I just delete those

Just out of interest , where did you open this email, on your yahoo.com account ? If so it is obviously not locked .....

I think you need better spam filtering. The only place I see junk like that is in my spam folder if I bother to open it.

So they send an email to say that your email account is locked? If this was genuine (which it isn't), how would Yahoo expect you to see the email saying your account was locked?
