PPS Riverside Pub Lechlade

Good afternoon.
Today I have received a Notice to Keeper, PPS headed letter for 'Unauthorised Parking' at The Riverside pub in Lechlade. (which we visited for lunch at the times stipulated for the 'charge'
The car park is free. no pay and display, although is managed by this company I beleive
The letter I received is for a parking charge relating to unauthorised parking.
Surely, if I was having lunch, and can be proven with receipt, no charge is liable in the first place?
I have read the newbie forum etc in relation to appeals but this is slightly different from any examples seen.

I suggest you complain in the strongest possible terms to the manager, and also to the pub's owners, Arkells. If they demur over getting this cancelled, hint that a TripAdvisor review will be forthcoming which might not be entirely favourable.
According to some TripAdvisor reviews you really do have to pay to park there! But you could hardly be blamed for not noticing, after all who expects a pub to charge its own customers for parking?
The best advice for the future, for anyone, is:
- do not patronise any pub which charges customers for parking and
- avoid The Riverside, Lechlade like the plague!0 -

I know that pub, it's confusing as apart from the pub, people think they can park to view the river and walk along the bank.
As said, the manager of the pub is your first approach with the receipt and if he/she wants you or your friends to ever come back, you expect the ticket to be cancelled by them.
Either go in for a face to face or email riverside@arkells.com
You expect a written response be it by letter or email that the charge is cancelled. Also as said, if they ignore you, then you feel it would be best to warn all future customers on Trip Advisor
The great thing about the internet is that it is far bigger than any tinpot parking company ...... it can hurt0 -
Many thanks for all your advice...
Further to my initial post, I called the pub yesterday..
and spoke to a lady..apparently the new parking charge came into affect a few weeks ago... and she said they have had numerous complaints and people caught out by it... (also they refund any parking with your bill)..
I wasn't expecting to pay for parking as I'm a frequent visitor and never paid before.. I didn't look to obviously pay for parking or pay particularly much attention to any signage which apparently is there now or are there any signs inside the pub to say of the new parking rules..
any way..to cut a long story short... they have emailed the company PPS to cancel mine and several other unhappy customers! so hopefully that will be the end of it!...0 -

Perfect, they realise how the parking cowboys could easily destroy their business
Verbal confirmation is OK but best to get this in writing or email0 -

It is not over until the PPC say it is over, so make sure you get this in writing. If it rears its ugly head again, contact the pub again.
Did you make a note of the name of the person you spoke to at the pub, along with the time and date?I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
**update, emails from arkells brewery and PPS to confirm 'invoice' / penalty charge cancelled**0
