As a supporter, I'd go for it. I think you've had answers from people who don't have sporting passion in their blood. If you're not gambling your entire life savings, then why not back your club with a little investment that can provide some return. I've bought shares in my local football club and it has a dreadful past for going into admin and leaving unpaid debts. Now the club is on the up again and attracting big-name sponsors. I know where you are coming from and would say keep it modest and back your local club. Sometimes in this life you've just got to follow your heart.
Then again, I'm purely speaking as a sporting fan who knows exactly where you're coming from. Just give them some backing but keep it at a level you feel comfortable with now you've had the potential risks spelled out.0 -
Sports investments are notoriously poor, so best not to look at it as an investment, but more a gift that you may get returned at some point in the future.
If you go into it with that view then you won't be disappointed.0 -
Many thanks to everyone for your advice!
