Mauritius on a budget?

Friends are getting married in Mauritius in September and are staying at the Dinarobin Golf and Spa Resort.
My hubby and I would love to attend their wedding but really don't have the same level of funds so would need to stay in a much cheaper hotel/resort. We would like somewhere all inclusive and would plan to stay for 1 week.
We're beginning to suspect that what we can afford and what we would need to pay will mean attending the wedding is not possible.
Is it possible to visit and enjoy Mauritius on a small budget?
Also, would anyone be able to suggest hotels we could look into please?
Thank you.

What is your actual budget?
Is it September this year?
Where are you flying from (which airports are accessible who fly to mauritius?)0 -
Yes,it can be done on a budget although you should remember that most Mauritius hotels are all-inclusive and quite expensive. They also tend to be isolated, not near any towns and with quite high levels of security.
We stayed at Le Beach Club,Pereybere - a small hotel right on the beach with inexpensive bars and restaurants nearby but it is at the opposite end of the island to the Dinarobin.0 -
Our budget is about £2500.
We would be planning to fly September 2016 from any airport between Liverpool & London.
As on such a tight budget would prefer to be all inclusive.
I think our budget is too small to make this trip possible but would really welcome your thoughts.
Many thanks for reading - much appreciated.0 -
I've never been to Mauritius but I doubt that all inclusive would be the cheapest option.
TripAdvisor has flights around the £700 mark from London for September. There are slightly cheaper options but they have lengthy stops.
http://www.mauristudio.com/ is around £25 per night self catering and about 20Km from your friends. It has a kitchen so that'd be breakfast taken care of.
According to Lonely Planet, meals in Port Louis are from about £5 up to £18 but I'd expect it to be cheaper outside the capital.
Flights £1,400
Accommodation (7 nights) £175
Food & drink (£75 per day?) £525 (I doubt that it'd be that expensive)
Taxis/incidentals £250 (a complete guess)
Total £2,350
I actually think that it would work out far cheaper than this as I've been generous with food & drink & taxis.
As I say, I haven't been to the country and know very little about it so this isn't a recommendation; I'm merely pointing out one option which should be within your budget.0 -
Depending on how much you drink I would recommend AI or half board if possible in Mauritius. Looking at Bestattravel you should easily be able to get a week from Manchester for under your budget with Emirates flights. Do a search and see which option works for you.0

Can I suggest Kuoni to you?
We are booked to go on the 9th June for 10 nights flying Emirates from Glasgow all inc at the Solana Beach Club in Belle Mare. £1200 each. A friend who works for TC spotted this deal and we thought it was pretty reasonable for Mauritius. The hotel has pretty good reviews and I'd imagine should be in your budget.
Good luck.0 -
Mercury direct can have some good deals to Mauritius.£100 - £10,0000
