He has payslips and bank account payments from 07/2015 to last week (05/2016), with only a three-day gap when he switched jobs in March.

The National Insurance Number was only allocated at the end of September.
  • An update on this. The very first thing the housing benefit did, just because I requested a change of circumstances form, was to suspend my payments. This is *exactly* what I was fearing. And this has happened with 1 week to go before the next rent date.

The letter says the payments have been suspended because there has been a change of circumstances. Without saying what the change is - I presume because it cannot be known until I submit said form.

I have submitted the compiled form today.

I find the system extremely frustrating at times. It feels like we are just numbers in some automatic process.

What i find ridiculous is that if I was to go to the council office and ask for a form there and then to compile and submit, known of this would have happened. Just because I had the brilliant idea of calling and requesting an *empty* form my claim has been suspended.

I do not condone the use of the word "jobsworth" as I have noticed it being frowned opon in other threads, however we should really employ the same vehemence in fighting these meaningless mechanisms.

    Is this link wrong then?

    http://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/local-housing-allowance

It clearly states you would get a bedroom for a lodger.

I am confused about his not actually having a bedroom. Isn't a living room classed as somewhere to sleep?

    Just asking :)

This has eventually gone unanswered and it was a rather valid / interesting point. It is amazing how we are left to wonder how such basic things work / have to resort to freedom of information requests of forum debates to try and get to the bottom of what should be openly available information.
