Hi

I was listening to music in my car, and the battery went flat.. its happened before, but I assume it happens fairly quickly as I have a sub and amplified front speakers.

I jump started the car again as I sometimes need to but the headunit has no power now at all. Im abit clueless as to what I should be looking for in order to try and fix. I thought i'd ask so see if anyone has any ideas on what to look for and where to look :beer:

    If you'd just spent £40 on a new battery instead of flogging a dead horse, then this probably would have been avoided.

    Chances are the jump starting upset the radio circuit and blew a fuse somewhere.

    Thanks..

    Its not anything to do with being too tight to buy a new battery. My battery was replaced not too long ago, so I was surprised when it died after around 30 mins of listening to music..

    The sub and various amps will drain the battery quite quickly.
    In your case, it's probably the internal fuse that's blown (should be easy enough to get to).

    If it's not the fuse, I would guess at a small component being fried by the jump-start and it would need to looked at professionally (unless you're handy with a soldering iron and component level repair).

    The fuse will probably be of the 3A quick-blow variety.

    ::edit::
    Can't take credit for this, Strider mentioned the fuse first (post #2)

    In the end, all I had to do was remove the fuse, which was actually fine, plugged it back in and worked fine, oddly.

    Now that will remind me to buy an ipod , cheers
