"LBA is usually enough to spur a seller into action. Were they a business or a private seller?"

I am falling into the trap of dealing with 2 separate incidents in the one thread and confusing everyone including myself.

In this case the seller was clearly a "trader" and the goods were "new". Whilst in retrospect they were most likely faulty on delivery, this only became apparent enough for me to be certain after 2 months' use

Don't worry about cross thread, most here are able to cope.

Can I ask what you mean by 'clearly a trader'. Were they registered as a business? Are they (and you) in the EU?

    * Because you didn't report them as 'faulty on delivery' you won't be able to claim under Paypal SNAD. I understand you hadn't been able to establish that upon receipt, but you've had the claim and now you must try and resolve it another way. Get over the Paypal case.

"...Trading" is part of the name of the seller, both of us in the UK. But the seller refused to consider any claim under warranty / guarantee, which was the point at issue

I agree that I will have to seek other means of getting retribution in this case than from PayPal.

My thoughts above were more forward looking: I have used PayPal by default on numerous occasions for eBay purchases in the past where everything in connection with the delivery and after has more or less gone to order. I could have just as well used a credit card directly. I am now wondering if for future purchases it would be sensible to dispense with PP and just use Visa.
