Hi
I am running a kids party at the weekend and have borrowed a bubble machine off a friend. Everything is working fine but I have to buy a bottle of bubbles for it. She told me to nip to Toys 'R' Us (where she bought the machine) and buy some Gazillion bubbles.
Now my problem is I am really skint and cant afford any bubbles!
Tried the fairy liquid thingy but they are too thin!!
Anyone know how to make up some real bubbles?
All suggestions welcome!
Thanks
Dido

I found this recipe on the net.
Bubble Recipe
1/2 cup of dish detergent (washing up liquid)
5 cups water (soft water is best - if your water is very hard consider using distilled or bottled water)
2 tablespoons glycerine (available at the pharmacy or supermarket). You can substitute light corn syrup (not golden syrup!)
Mix the ingredients together very carefully, so that you they don't get too bubbly. Pour into storage containers and, if possible, leave overnight to blend.0 -
Thanks everyone for replying.
Is glycerine expensive? Where would be the cheapest place to get this? I am not sure if the normal bubbles that come from the pound shop would work. The gazillion fluid looked alot thicker. Suppose its worth a try but I am really counting every single penny at the moment.
Thanks all

You can get glycerine at chemists or supermarkets (usually with the cake making stuff). Tesco sell a small bottle for 54p. The glycerine makes the bubbles last for longer.
Tesco also do a large bottle of value of bubble mixture for £1.47 (I think), never tried it is a bubble machine though.
Good luck0 -
Hey if you really want to entertain the kids get some of these...Fire Bubbles
Want something to amaze your friends or as the climax of your performance? These bubbles will explode into a ball of fire when lit - NO JOKE! Must be the most unusual bubble development since,,, well, ever! The kit (original sold as a magic trick) includes a special catalyst bubble blower, some flammable bubble liquid, a lighter and syringe (to fill the catalyst). Requires a small amount of petrol. No other power source required.
AGE 18+....click on picture 2 to see a fire bubble in mid explosion. Please note: whilst our testing has concluded that is not a dangerous item, fire bubbles are blown at your own risk. Bubble Inc can take no responsibility for accidents caused. Play sensibly.

I went to the Science museum in the school holidays and they put on a bubble show they also gave the recipe which is 95% warm water 1% fairy liquid and 4% glycerine (not sue if that is how to spell it). They also get the kids measuring with a litre jug and they do a fire bubbles trick and a pet bubble trick (the bubble lasts for about 10 mins). I cannot remember the how they do those!0
