Is it OK not to reply to a negative?

I have just received my first negative after 1232 transactions on Ebay.

I sold a piece of vintage lego that I described as broken, grubby, NOT working, for spares or repairs. The buyer made an offer and before accepting I sent an email to point out that the piece was broken and not working. He was fine with that.

He has now left a negative with the comment that the piece is broken and worse than described. There has been no contact other than the feedback
Do I have to respond?
I gave an honest account of the piece.

thanks

You do not have to. . However as a buyer I am more likely to ignore a negative a seller has if there is a calm response giving the sellers side. If I get a negative or neutral I always reply to it for this reason. You can just leave it though. IYou do not need to contact the buyer either. You may want to block them so you do not have to deal with them again though.

You do not have to respond & sometimes it makes it look worse
If you do respond the buyer can also respond to your follow-up

We have just got a neg, first one in 5000 transactions, Brand New item, fully checked & Security marked by us. German buyer signed for the item, opened it, wasn't happy [saying it was scrap] & gave it back to the courier to return.
We suspect he has swapped it with the old item & we're awaiting it to be returned before leaving our follow-up.

Thanks , this is exactly what I didn't want to happen.

I think I will leave it, and block him.

    I would respond with:

Description clearly said "broken, grubby and not working". Unfair feedback.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
