Ba amex

Hi,

Looking at buying a conservatory for 25,000 and thought about getting a BA Amex card for a companion voucher. Could I get the card and then transfer the money onto the card (so it's in credit) and then buy the conservatory to trigger the companion voucher spend and avios points?

Is the BA Amex card the best card for premium cabin offers (business class).

Thanks all
~Adrian

Putting a card in credit usually breaches the Ts & Cs of most cards, so you'd need to check whether this one allows it, most will also prevent single transactions greater than credit limit in any case.

If you have a partner and meet income requirements, both apply for the fee charging card. They tend to give bigger limits.

Then pay half the bill on each card. Trigger two companion vouchers.

PM me your email addresses if you want a referral link for an extra 1,000 Avios each.

Paying in instalments and clearing the balance after each payment can avoid the need to put the account in credit.
  • Have you found a conservatory company that take Amex - and will let you pay for it all on the card without charging you a % fee? That may be your first challenge....

BA Avios (like most Airline frequent flier programs) can be tough to find premium cabin availability unless you are booking a year ahead, can be flexible about where you go and can be flexible with your dates. But with forward planning and flexibility it can be done without too much of a problem.
  • Even better would be to take a referral (from me ;) ) and apply for the BA Premium Card for some extra Avios - and then send a referral to your other half for the Premium card - for yet more bonus Avios for both you and your partner.

Then follow peaceful's advice to split the conservatory cost and trigger 2 companion vouchers (which are valid for 2 years, rather than 1 year on the regular card).

Bingo; Avios bonanza and 2 companion vouchers - valid for 2 years.
