Having 2 student bank accounts

If I was to hold a student account with HSBC first and then get a second one with Halifax, and use my overdraft facilities etc as a normal student account - given that Halifax have no requirements of monthly deposits or anything, and I would use the HSBC account as the main, how would HSBC find out I have an account with Halifax?

Even then, is there anything HSBC could do, other than to close my account, if I had a second student account elsewhere?

You are required to pay in your student finance or other money regularly to get the overdraft.

I asked about this with Halifax and they had told me quite directly that I didn't need to do anything to get the overdraft.

I found and read the T&C in 2 min via Google where it clearly says you need to pay regular money into the account. That can be student finance, family contributions or other.

no bank is going to give an overdraft when there is no money coming into the account.

Halifax student account leaflet clearly states this and also that you will not necessarily get the full £3000
