hi
just bought a 80gb ipod 5th gen from comet for £159
look on line and they are at that price but instore they are still £240
rang customer service who said i could pick up in store but when he asked his supervisor about getting it discounted down to £159 (it was still showing £240 on his screen) they suddenly did not have any stock anywhere
they found me a 30gb at a local store for £149 so i reserved that (after asking if they had any 80 gb (which they said they had not)
when i went to the store to pick up i just asked one of the assists if they had any 80gb ipods in "sure we have a couple left" was her reply:rolleyes:
off she went and returned with one "£239.99 please"
asked if they price match off the net she said only comet store page
bingo there it was still £159 !!!!:j
priced matched and away
dont know if this is the discounted price that has not filtered through yet or a missprice

Hi
Check the 'Apple' store, The 80gb ipod is the same price £159
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=AED7371&node=home/ipod/ipod
Make way for the tiny Ipod Nano @ £129

Depends on what size you require though.........................:T

The one on the apple store is the new version (iPod Classic eg 6G) with updated software and is thinner than the previous model. It was announced/released yesterday. So OP, if you can I'd take the one from Comet back and see about getting the new version from either an apple store in person or off their website 'Lose' - as in "I hate to lose" only has one 'o'.
'Loose' - as in 'Loose change' is not the same word!0 -
I am waiting until the iPod touch is released in a 500GB version.;)Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

Shows how things move. There is a 160GB version at the same price I paid for A 60gb version a year ago. Seeing as I have 130GB of music on the PC I am now very tempted!0

Well done, you probably just bought the old 80gb edition for the price as the new one, so it'll lack a few features and be a bit bigger.
If you'd have waited 2 weeks, the new ones would be in the shops0 -
new ones are already on the comet site0

What a pointless post. It has been REDUCED in price because the new one is coming - £70 more expensive. A lot of money to some people. It doesn't lack any features - the new one has more but the 5G is still the 5G with the same features. 80GB is more than ample for the majority of people - I have loaded mine up with my entire music collection, many videos and loads of podcasts and never gone near half full. It would not be worth £70 to me for a touchscreen and wireless networking as I wouldn't use them. Mine stays in the car and either plays when I'm driving through ITrip or keeps me entertained with videos in hotel rooms.
A good price for a very nice piece of kit. If you want a good IPOD that plays songs and videos then this is your machine. If you want the latest gadgets then get the new one.
Edit - I was basing this on a few bits of what I have heard. The fact that the touchscreen only goes to 16GB and that the classic is just a £70 more expensive 160GB video makes £150 a very good price.0 -
