Another Ryanair cancellation question?

On tuesday we were due to fly on the 09.35 from stansted to dublin flight, checked in & got through security. Just finished breakfast when the announcement came over the tannoy flight was cancelled & anyone that had checked in to report back to ryanair.

Time we got to the ryanair desk the earliest flight we could get on was the 15.45. The 4 of us were a bit peeved.

Now because we were delayed for 6 hours can we claim(try) anything off ryanair.

We were told it was cancelled for operational reasons(whatever that is).

Now according to there own website we should have been offered refreshments etc but were not.
if i had known then what i know now

According to the regs, you are entitled to refund or routing, assistance at the airport and compensation. However, the compensation provisions will not apply if the cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances.

The question then is 'are operational reasons' extraordinary circumstances. To me that could be anything. How will/do i find out?

Unfortunately, it is up to Ryanair to tell you.

Much as I love Ryanair, I am not sure how honest they will be with you. Not saying they will lie, but possibly manipulate the truth to suit them?

Write to them and see what you get back. Let us know! x
