ssp problem

I have a problem about getting ssp
One month ago I had an accident at work and have since been hospitalised and sick, my company have up to date sick notes from doctor. I have been employed by them over 2 years and working full time and over £300 per week, this is my first instance of sick.
Today I got my payslip, £0
There is no mention of ssp or any form (ssp1) enclosed.
I have tried contacting them but no reply at present, they are aware that I am going to pursue a negligence claim against them and I think that they may be just trying to be awkward!
I think that ssp1 should have been sent to me with reason why no payment, if they ignore my request what is my next course of action?

Have you been contacting them by telephone?
If you have then you need to write to them and ask why you haven't received your sick pay.
From everything you have said you should be paid SSP. Does your employer pay contractual sick pay?(check your contract).
If you have a contract have you followed the correct procedure for reporting sick?
Read this link to see what you should do if you are not paid SSP and they do not issue you a SSP1.

On the information given you would be entitled to SSP, hence the SSP1 form would not be relevant. Give them a call on Monday, it could well be an oversight, for instance if your sick note has not been passed to payroll.0

OP has only tried to contact them today, quite possible payroll etc are not in. I'd give them a call in the week before going down the written route.0 -
Yes tried contacting my manager by text and telephone, in past have had no problem getting hold of him.
My employer doesn't pay contractual sick pay.
Looks like I will need to write, but it's all time wasting, I don't know if there's anything else I can do or ring to speed things up.0 -
Speaking to my manager a couple of weeks ago he told me that he had faxed sicknote to head office, he is on call at weekends and not on holiday.
Got my payslip today and it states 160 hours unpaid sick, so they are quite aware at payroll that I am sick.0 -

Jumping the gun a tad. This is not something that would be dealt with on call, it's not an emergency. Contact him when he is back at work.0 -

I understand what you're saying but if he waits a week and still gets no reply and then writes a letter the time goes on and on. (not much fun if you're strapped for cash.)
A letter should reach them by Tuesday and then, at least, he will have done the next stage required before escalating it.
Hopefully, another phone call on Monday will sort it but if they are playing 'silly bug*ers (as he suspects) then time might be of the essence.0 -
Update:
Spoke with my Manager yesterday and he said that apparently head office hadn't received my first sicknote, even though at the time he confirmed receiving it from me in a phone conversation!
Anyhow I refaxed from local library, yesterday afternoon, also emailed head office to make sure they had everything and whether there were any problems.
Was told that they now had everything but won't pay me till next payroll June 7th.
And to top it all blamed ME for not sending sicknote in on time, even though I had, unfortunately I have no written proof that my Manager had the sicknote on time.0 -
Thanks for updating.
As SSP is a statutory right for workers (see gov.uk and hence the name), ask HQ to send a payment via BACS, as they are now late in paying through no fault of yours.
They often do this for new workers who start just before a monthly payroll and it's quite easy to do in the days of internet & telephone banking where faster payments are received within 2 hours. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Ive just emailed head office and asked them if they would be prepared to do a BACS payment.
I will keep you informed of any further developments.0
