Who would use cloud storage anyway0

If Dropbox should vanish I still have that data on all of my machines. It's the main reason I didn't bother with OneDrive as I have no need for two such products at the same time.
Agree, I use Dropbox & Google Drive in the same way. It's taken me some getting used to but it's so handy to see photos etc from multiple devices as well as having an extra backup without lifting a finger. And it's free, what is there to moan about. Tsk..0 -

At one point Microsoft went down the route of infinite free storage but that got badly abused by a small number of people .... So, as often happens, the minority spoiled it for the majority. However it was free and the 5gb is still free, so don't look a gift horse in the mouth. For £59 you can get 1tb of space and Office 365 .
MS at least still offer free space, otbers eg, copy, bitcasa, sugarsync and others have not only stopped offering free space but also took all space of existing customers.
If you really want some free space then there are plenty of options still out there with some companies offering several Tb for free. But also look at hubic and cubby.IITYYHTBMAD0 -

Who decides ?If you have a free OneDrive plan and will be over your storage quota as a result of these changes:- If you are a free user and have over 5 GB of content in your OneDrive, you will receive an email with an offer to claim a free 1-year subscription to Office 365 Personal*, which includes 1 TB of storage.
- If you do not claim this offer, you will need to purchase additional storage or remove some of your files. Otherwise, 90 days after you receive your first notice, your account will become read-only.
- If you are over quota after the 90 days, you will still have access to your files for 9 months. You can view and download them. However, you will not be able to add new content.
- If after 9 months you are still over quota, your account will be locked. That means that you will not be able to access the content in your OneDrive until you take action.
- If after 6 more months you fail to take action, your content may be deleted.

Are you asking what data you would use if they reduced the storage space in your OneDrive?. If so the answer is nothing!. If the spave reduces to less than what you have stored you can still access all your data you just can't add anymore until you delete enough yourself.
Edit: looks like the poster above me replied at the same time with a more detailed answer!0 -

But most people had 25GB or 15GB. If a 'small minority' of them used their whole quota and everyone else used 5GB or less... it still doesn't add to many percent more overall. So the 'small minority' theory doesn't explain the cut from 25GB to 5GB.0 -
Its still free, its only a couple of quid a month for 100gb if you really need it. Or, build your own little fileserver or buy a synology, then you can have as much as you like0
