Paint roller - how long can keep bagged up?

I used the roller on Wednesday. I was going to paint some more yesterday but finished really late.
I've got a bit to do tonight also so tomorrow will be the next time i can paint.
I know you can wrap a plastic carrier bag around the roller so that you don't have to wash it out each time, but i was just wondering for how long you can bag it up & leave it until the next time?
You would do that for no more than X-days?

Certainly good for at least a few days poss even a week or more but this is from my experience using cling film wrapped 2 or 3 times around the roller. Cling film more air tight than a carrier bag generally speaking.
Just lay out a square of cling film on a flat surface, place roller (still encased with the handle) at one end and roll, wrapping the cling film around it. Twist both ends and pretty much air tight. :-)0 -
There are times when money saving becomes OTT.
Bite the bullet.

From memory I've left rollers for 4 or 5 days without a problem. I use bread bags turned inside out to avoid having crumbs on the wall.0

Using cling film, I'd change my (white matt) ceiling roller about every 3 months. They go through a aging cycle, first few uses, throw off a few threads, gradually declining so that over the next few months nothing much comes off. After a bit they start throwing off a bit more, at which point I would throw them away.
Basically you'll be fine, as long as it was relatively airtight.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -
It's not really from a money saving point of view.jakemillspaek wrote: »There are times when money saving becomes OTT.

Let's say i order the roller. It lands on Monday.
I paint Tuesday, but because i start work at 7am & don't get home until 7pm, i don't have long to paint, so i do what i can ... a couple walls.
I should then throw it out?
Or wrap it up because i'm going to be painting the next day or perhaps the day after with the exact same paint?0 -
^ I recently painted a bedroom with three different colours leaving a day or more between coats. If I'd left the rollers to dry between coats it would have cost me six sleeves plus two radiator roller sleeves.0

I wrap mine in a shopping bag and put it in the fridge to keep it moistSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0

100% (as Paulthepainter says) clingfilm it every time, get all the air out as it's air that will set the paint and make the roller unusable.

Weeks in my experience.
THe only problem is flakes of dried paint seem to always form on the handle/arm, so that when I re-use I have to keep picking them off the wall...0 -
forget any advice to the contrary, get it air tight in a couple of supermarket abags and 3 months later it will still be fine.
Wouldn't advocate this if I hadn't been there,;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
