Faulty goods just out of warranty

Could someone help. I bought a Bush cooker from Argos in January 2015, it has developed a fault. I telephone Argos who said it was out of warranty and it was up to Bush so they put me through to Bush, they said it was out of warranty and I could pay £109 for 12 months guarantee but surely its not fit for purpose and should last longer than 15 months. Any advice on what to do next and who is responsible for fixing the fault.
Thanks

Outside of the first 6 months the onus is on you to prove it's a manufacturing fault. You will need to get an independent report and submit that to argos. If the report finds its an inherent manufacturing fault then you get the refund, repair or replacement (argos choice of which) and the cost of the report.0

You need to remind Argos that they are the seller and have a responsibility.
This short extract from MSE's Consumer Rights guide should help you:Know who's responsible
When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!
If a company fobs you off by saying “go to the maker instead”, it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.
It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with it.0 -
Argos have asked for an independent report, do I go ahead with getting one ????0
