How do you install an air brick

in a cavity wall of a house ?

easy job ?

Wall is rendered, how would i avoid cracking it ?

    Drill the four corners, cut the render in between with an angle grinder then chop out. Then add the air brick.

  • What's the purpose of the air brick - to ventilate the cavity or to ventilate a sub-floor void? If its the latter you'll obviously need to remove a brick from both skins and I believe its recommended to put a ducting sleeve between them to keep the air flowing freely. Depending on the internal floor height you may need one of those Z-shaped telescoping ducts.

    The survey on the property we are buying has recommended an air brick in the living room due to a wood burner installed in there..concrete floor...

    Don't bother.

    Just keep the living room door open a crack.

    And of course always have a CO alarm, just in case.

    The survey also recommends air bricks in the pine end walls in the roof space (or vents made in the soffits)

    yes mate, plenty on the survey report to think about and as i look at them i`m throwing the questions out there....next ones to do with the gable end ladder lol
