Can't go on holiday

I booked a Holiday to Spain 4 days ago which I fly out in 2 weeks (2 adults).

I have been told today by my doctor that I am unable to go as I am not well... Does anyone know if I am entitled to anything back at all? I taken insurance out at the time of booking, maybe this would cover me?

Thanks.

Insurance should do - that's what it's there for
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

That all depends on your policy - it's not always that clear cut especially if you've been less than honest with them! Gonna have to phone them & find out what they can do for you.

D0 you have pre existing medical conditions and did you declare them. If so you should be able to claim on your insurance, you need to ring them and ask the question. If you did have them and you didn't declare them then no. Depending on the type of holiday you may be able to do a name change.

As above - as long as yoiu were honest when you took out the insurance ( i.e. you had no pre-existing medical condition, or if you did then you declared it ) then this is exactly the sort of thing insurance is for. Just check that the policy covers cancellation - most do, but some of the very cheapest ones may only cover things like emergency medical expenses whilst abroad, theft etc.

I once had this happen (actually it was a bereavement rather than ill-health) and didn't have insurance although it was a holiday to Canada. I did manage to get back the flight taxes though and the air company offered to change the dates of the flight if i could go later in the year.

So even if you can't get anything back from insurance, might be worth asking for tax refund for flight. It won't be much but it's better than zero, i guess.

Was there no sign of illness 4 days ago? Is it certain you will still be unwell in two weeks?

Hope you're on the road to recovery very soon.
