If you are saying the clear opening is 3.2m then a Catnic lintel, or similar, will just about span this. It will be a special order, but should be perhaps seven days delivery. Equally if you have a good relationship with your builders merchant, or with Catnic, the calculations should be done for you.

However, I am wary here. You say about getting the building work "restarted". A competent builder would not have allowed building work to reach this stage and then take a pause whilst a beam is designed and sourced. Equally, a competent builder would give you the same advice as I have about a Catnic, or similar. Of course this assumes that I have understood your requirement correctly, and I may not have done this.

As an aside do you have Full Plans Buildings Regulations for the work or did you opt for a Building Notice? I can, to extent, understand the situation if it is the latter, but again the builder would come in for criticism here.
