Sorry I can't help but I would also like to know this if there is a local Bristol expert amongst the elite.

Eldest son is on a long training deployment in the corner of the uk so it would be a good excuse to do some exploring in an unknown corner of the uk - I am also wondering about the closeness of Travelodges/premier inns, Accor and Hiltons but I expect as in most cities these are all expensive hotels :)

Whenever I am loitering at a train station I make lists of places I could get to via train. This week I found out you can get to Dundee from Brum new street so I've got to do some map studying as to distances between stations and town centres.
Also our trains can get us to Hereford and Worcester and then in another direction Stratford upon Avon

The one I really want to do is the train which goes all the way from Stafford down to Plymouth, and onwards to Cornwall ...
And the train route that goes from Edinburgh through to Inverness ...

    Gggrrrrr!!!
BT are starting to charge for their email address if you dont get any services from them, so have spent some time today deleting some emails ready for my move to a different email address (10-15 years with one email address, you build some crap up!)
So, opened up a different email address with a free provider, and within half an hour, into my brand new email address, an email from groupon lands!!! The email is only 30 mins old and already I am getting spam!!!

We got a similar email after leaving bt saying that they were going to charge for the email address. It didn't come to fruition, 2 years later, still have email address and have not been charged ever  :)
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Also John Lewis in Liverpool this morning we went early this time to the cafe to have my one solitary free coffee and cake. Sadly no carrot cake yet again  so the girl asked and apparently they don't do carrot cake anymore

Is this just Liverpool or is it countrywide?

There was no carrot cake in Aberdeen a couple of months ago :( so I passed my voucher on ;)

Give it time. I was the same, as they could not charge me as it was only £1.60 a month, and their computer system could not bill for under £2, but they have put it up to a fiver and they have just sent me a bill for 20 months :rotfl:

I've been on the Edinburgh to Inverness frequently and the Glasgow to Inverness ,both a similar time and distance I think.

Hi Emerald, town centre (shopping, Cabot Circus or The Galleries) is about 5/10 minute walk or there are loads of buses that go there.

Hi Mhoc, there's a Holiday Inn right opposite Temple Meads, although they can be expensive. But as with Emeralds answer, the town center is not far away with plenty of choices.

Thanks scamps .Is Cabot circus the town centre then or are they both and if so which is the best. Unless you are available to give me a guided tour ;)m:D. Never been to Temple Meads station before but have been to Parkside. Might as well have a look around while I'm there.

On their website is a chance to get some free pies http://www.pieminister.co.uk/littleactsofpieness Were having a street get together next weekend and I managed to get 100 free pies. :D God knows what were going to do with them all, there's only 12 houses!!
