Hello Purpledonkey. I live and work in Sheffield.
From Friday, Sheffield Hallam has the final year art and design students degree show - free: https://www.shu.ac.uk/campaigns/degree-show
Winter Garden is relatively small but it's joined to the Millenium Gallery which is worth a look, as is the Graves Gallery next door (Graves is also the main Library building).
The Great Escape is really good fun - my work colleagues and I did it (we did Alcatraz Room)
What sort of things would you like to know about?

You are the local expert person I need to ask then. We have got a few days stay coming up in Sheffield in the hilton - the one actually in Sheffield not the double tree at Dronfield on the outskirts. Looking at the map it looks like a taxi ride from the train station into the centre rather than a long slow walk - would you say so or is there a bus service into town?

This will be our first trip to Sheffield so we have not planned activites yet - any recommendations? We like the usual museums and art galleries and anything with a history.
I've also not looked at groupon/livingsocial yet to see if there are any nice meal deals within easy walking distance of the hotel

(We were spoilt when we had a couple of nights in York in April - both resturants I found on livingsocial were literally yards from the hotel so I could wear heels and have a drink!)

Easy, advertise free lifts to the airport. When you get a reply ask for their address then google it. If it has a parking space give them a lift, go back and park your car on their drive.

Thank you :) That's precisely it - something different and inexpensive, otherwise I will hunt down a baking supply shop... that never ends well for my bank balance :rotfl: We were looking at Crack the Code as it's £20 opposed to £36 (I know it's not inexpensive but I can't resist an escape game :))
