I said to my OH when we got back from hols over a week ago that there was no hot water for washing up.
I wondered if it was because the timer had got out of synch because of the summer time clock change.
OH twiddled with the dials and tried to show me how to do it, insisting it was something I could fix myself and not to bother him with it.
Of course on some of these cold nights the fire has been on so that's heated the water so OH said there was no problem.
He got cross when I was boiling the kettle after dinner for washing up water
Some arguments you are never going to win so I just carried on boiling water secretly
Finally he came to the conclusion all by himself that the dial thingy for heating the water has gone capput but only when he tried to run a bath - only showers these days so baths are a rarity
So a new dial thingy is coming from amazon tommorow
This morning the floor by the washing machine had a mysterious wetness. I've moved everything and checked to make sure it's not a leaking kettle. None of the pipes under the sink feel wet so where ever the leak is from its behind the washing machine.
This time OH can't pretend its my imagination so this afternoon he is pulling the machine out to investigate
We had one summer like this which started with a kettle shorting out and gradually one after another we had one appliance after another failing or needing fixing ending up with the main computer (this was pre tablet and smart phone days) getting the blue screen of death, everything wiped and needing an entire new system
Hopefully these 2 minor traumas this week are not the start of another if those summers ....“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Would you believe I am not very good at haggling.
I don't know why I am still looking at the prices it's done and dusted now, paid the price I was happy with at the time. Have you booked yours yet?Or are you waiting bit longer, looks like these prices have dropped at the 3 week mark...
Usually I miss out if I hang on too long but one time about 2 years ago for once it paid off. I had been following the price of a weeks Norway cruise on Anthem of the seas on cruise.co.uk and it was coming up the the end of April and it kept appearing on the lists saying last chance to book if you want some OBC. I was more interested in the drinks package
But I held my nerve, May 1st came and cabins were still for sale so I rung cruise.co - I got the drinks package, balcony and the OBC was still there plus she gave me extra OBC as we didn't need parking :T
- that was 3 weeks before sail date
The only galling bit was having to pay £59 for the night before hotel in Ibis budget as it was so last minute.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

LEJC ..The Girl on A Train is next in line to be read .. looking at write up on the back of it it is not the normal type of book I would read but my Niece got it for me as recommended I read it before the film comes out in October ..
my eldest has insisted I read one of her business practice books called "humble inquiry" - its very heavy going but I have to plough on as I am sure she is going to test me on on her next visit :rotfl:
in the meantime OH put almost all of the Wallander books plus others on my ipad so that's what I am reading for light relief“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
