Vodafone rejected contract

My wife and I have been following all advice on MSE over the past year to get our credit scores in shape ahead of applying for a mortgage. In any case we have and have never had any debt, with the exception of two credit cards which we pay off in full every month. Our address are up to date with every company and we are on the electoral role.
We did the free Experian check around 9 months ago and both had good scores, we get Noddle reports every month and both have excellent scores.
We got our mortgage accepted last month and exchanged contracts on our first house yesterday. Since getting our mortgage we have compared home and life insurance (as per MSE method) and taken out insurance (presumably leaving some searches on our credit records).
Since the village we are moving to is quite remote, and only has a decent signal with Vodafone, we have to reluctantly change our 30-day rolling sim only contracts to Vodafone. When trying to do this online, both my wife and I have been rejected on the basis of credit checks.
I'm looking for advice on what to do. Could this be because we have just got a mortgage? Should we take pay as you go plans and then try again for the 30-day contract we want in a few months?
Thanks

Credit scores mean nothing and the phone networks can at times be choosey as to who they accept and when, My credit rating has been in good shape for a number of years without any issues, I applied for an 02 contract and they asked for a deposit of £250.00 which I politely declined and took a secondary Vodafone contract out without any issues, I then took a 3rd contract with BT mobile and again no issues on it.
Perhaps looking at the pay and go to get you by for now is the only route, I'd say 6 months really before re-applying though and in some cases it is worth waiting a year.0 -
Hi
Nothing you've said sounds like it should be particularly detrimental in terms of a credit check for a mobile phone contract. Perhaps it is the multiple searches in a short space of time, or they are simply being choosey as Stevie Palimo suggests.
I don't know for certain but it's possible Vodafone may use Equifax to credit check so it's worth checking your Equifax file too if you haven't already.

Have you been applying using your new address? If so it maybe a simple case of not being on the electoral roll there or not lived there long enough.0
