Help - Rejected car insurance!

Options
I really hope someone can help as we are getting a bit desperate.

I'm trying to help my daughter's Italian boyfriend get car insurance. He has been over here 3 years. He is a chef and has lived in accommodation provided by his employers (a restaurant), essentially a staff house. He has now moved out into his own flat and my daughter is letting him use her old car.

Last week we went through price comparison sites but the cost of insurance even with me added as an occasional driver was huge. Co-op young drivers however came up with a reasonable quote. When we rang to confirm he wanted to take it up we were told they couldn't insure him as a database had been searched and thing didn't match up.

What I managed to find out was that possibly, it was because:
a) he was not yet the registered keeper (daughter has not got round to it yet:mad:); and
b) he is still registered on the electoral roll at his old address.

Can anyone think of any other reasons so that I can help him sort it out? He really needs the car as buses are costing him £8 a day!

I'm out this morning but will be back later if anyone has any questions. Thank you in advance.

He will need to move as many details as he can to the new address - bank correspondence, bills etc. It's failing to match him at that address using credit scoring. Ask the Co-op if sending proof he lives at the new address would be sufficient. (Tenancy agreement for example).

Thanks for your replies. I'm not sure he's transferred his bank correspondence but I will certainly tell him to get on with it. I'll tell him to try a broker as well to see if they can help.
Great tip about the tenancy agreement.
    Thanks again.
