Please bill us Scottish power!!
We get our electricity through Scottish power. Since moving to our new home 18 months ago we never received a bill. Then in march this year we had a letter asking us to give them our details as they've been providing our electricity (I know, I know, we should have called them when we moved in... And no, we didn't take metre readings...) Turns out they had the wrong address for us (how?! A completely different city) so we owe A LOT. I asked them to post me the bill as I want it in writing and switched to their cheapest tarrif. They agreed to allow Jan-march go be all on the new tarrif but the rest of the bill, 16 months ish is on their rubbish standard tarrif. They said they'd post the bill but only after trying to get me to pay up part of it immediately despite me having nothing in writing. Then tried the same with my husband when he spoke to the same man during that phone call. I explained that we will pay as soon as we get the bill. About 2 months on still not received the bill so I called them and they said we're only billed quarterly so need to wait until June (for an even bigger bill?!) as the jan-march quarter had already finished when I'd rung them. now we've had an email (our first ever named contact from them!!!!) Saying urgent action required, we owe xxx (first time I've seen how much we owe exactly, on the phone they wouldnt give an exact figure) I will call them tomorrow and insist on the bill in full in writing (via email maybe to speed it up) but have I got any grounds for complaint? Any way to get some sort of goodwill sorry for messing up our account? Or are we just paying the price for being disorganised?
Many thanks for reading all this!

Paying the price for being disorganised in my opinion.
Why have you not registered for online account with scottish power? I can generate a bill as soon as I give a meter reading. I do so every month with scottish power.
You are in a deemed contract with whoever the exising supplier is when you move into a property. It is down to you to contact them and set-up an account and get put on the cheapest tariff and/or initiate a switch elsewhere.
You have not done this so I do not see what you have to complain about.
You knew you were using electricity and you knew you would have to pay for what you have used at some point.
I assume you put money aside for this?
By not taking meter readings you have just made things difficult for yourself.
It sounds like they have messed up your home address somehow but that would have been spotted if you had rung them to begin with and set-up an account properly.0 -
Thank you
I will register online with them today
