CTC moving to UC

Hi, I am currently in receipt of CTC based on hubby working full time, i work part time and we have 2 children 2&3. When we move over to UC - Will I be expected to go to the job centre? Take on extra work etc just to recieve my TCs?

yes you will still have to attend.

They want everyone in work full time. Its unrealistic but they don't care.

It depends on how much your husband earns. If he earns double the NMW x 35 hours (depending on your circumstances) then you won't be subject to conditionality. But if you earn less than that between you then you would need to look for work.

I don't understand this universal credit.

I recently became a stay at home mum. How will universal credit affect me?

It's not been brought into my ares yet and I've no idea when it will be either.

universal credit is based on the money earn rather than hours worked.

depending on circumstances, each household will be expected to earn a certain amount.
    for example....
a household with 2 adults and a 1 year old will be expected to earn 35 x NMW

a single parent with a child over 5, will be expected to earn 16 x NMW
a household with 2 adults and children aged over 12, will be expected to earn 2 x 35 hours at NMW.

if one partner earns enough to cover the amount then no further action will need to be taken.
if they don't then they will be expected to actively seek more hours in order to meet conditionality and continue to receive benefit.

there are many other circumstances, but without knowing tyour exact household make up, no one can say how it would affect you

    Thank you for the reply.

We have 3 children, the oldest is 8.

My husband works 240 hours a month and is on £7.58 an hour.
