I need help buying a 40" tv

I've got £300 to spend on a 40 inch tv but what do I need to know before buying one. I will only be using the tv for freeview and the odd movie.

Any modern TV will meet your requirements as long as it's 40" and <£300. I assume by 'odd movie' you mean an extrenal DVD player.

Is grumbler's assumption that "odd movie" means DVD correct, or do you want to watch Netflix or other streaming service and need a Smart TV? I would look at what Richer Sounds have available if only for the free 6 year warranty.
