Why Can't I download Whats App on My Samsung Tablet

I am trying to download Whats App on my Samsung tablet (3) without success. I have tried going into Play store but it seems Whats Apps is not compatible. Is there anything other way I can add Whats App onto my Samsung Table, Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

    It won't run on a tablet. At least, not without a lot of effort or installing a third part app to enable it.

    I managed to download the apk and install it, but it really needs to have a phone number linked so it's not much good really!

    What is it you want Whatsapp for ?

    Maybe an alternative could be suggested.

    I used WhatsApp Web (scanned the QR code on my phone) once via my tablet and to be honest it was too slow to be usable.

    Seeing as it's Android what about Hangouts?
