I always switch off completely in the evening, power off etc., but for some reason my pc clock is wonky whenever I switch back on again. Only started recently. Once it is reset, it is fine until the following day when I power up again. Any ideas, please???

Possibly need a new motherboard battery CR2032. How old is the pc?0

the battery in the computer has gone flat , this is the small c2032 type battery , like an oversize watch one
on most computers its easy and cheap to do , laptops are sometimes harder
make/model of computer might assist in helping you moreSave a Rachael

In years gone buy when I used to fix desktops this was ALWAYS the fouls of the motherboard CMOS battery. You can change this yourself for less than £1. As others have said too. Simply whip the case off your PC. Look at the main circuit board inside and you should see a silver disc that is almost identical in size to a 10p piece (and Shiny Silver too). Simply pop this out, get yourself to Poundland/Poundworld etc and you'll see a sheet of batteries for £1 (don't ask how I know the price, I just do). Replace the battery. Then reboot your PC but make sure you enter your BIOS settings at boot up and change your times/dates. That 'Should' solve it. It's called a CMOS battery.0

Thanks everyone, thought it might be something simple. This is quite an old pc, so I'm impressed that it has lasted that long.0

Google your PC or motherboard model number and you will find the type of CMOS battery you need.
I wouldn't trust a pound shop battery - a 'reputable' one from eg CPC will only be a few quid anyway.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Computers should last for decades and decades (unless you're physically abusing them)!
They should do, but people have this strange idea of running more demanding software.
The computer I used at uni had 6 MB of RAM - and that was shared between 200 simultaneous users.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
