Cordless Drill Advice Combi

Have to disagree with the above. I bought a corded Skil hammer drill from a Do it All closing down sale 15+ years ago. Its a good DIY drill and useful for driving larger screws. It still works as new. Current equivalents cost £15-£40. I've never regretted buying it.TheCyclingProgrammer wrote: »Have to disagree with the above - buy yourself a corded drill and every time you use it you'll curse and ask yourself why you didn't get a cordless one.0 -

They have on occasion sat for over a year not getting any use.
My Bosch cordless drill is about 12 years old and still works just fine. Both batteries will hold a charge well enough for most jobs, given that I have two of them. BUT I still use the corded drill more often.
The issue with a cordless for me though is that - like you and I suspect like most DIYers - I sometimes don't need a drill for 6 or even 12 months.
When I finally find a spare hour to do a job I've been putting off for ages, or when a sudden unexpected piece of work becomes necessary, I need the drill and it isn't charged (it's not reasonable in my book to keep the batteries on charge permanently for months at a time ready for when they're needed).
For this reason my cheap corded Wickes own-brand hammer drill gets much more use than the more expensive Bosch cordless.0
