Parental income from 2014/15 is used to assess student finance in 2016.

You had £60k,you will get £60K. However now you will struggle?
Yes, you're missing the bit where I've said my son needs to put an amount down on his application to uni to assess what he gets.

However i don't know whether that's just the taxable income from my job, or it counts the bursary. The websites seem to contradict.

Thanks for this. This form seems to indicate by omission that the bursary ISN'T included..hmm.

Not being funny but can't you just ring them and ask them? That's what I do when I have a problem like that

But she didn't get a bursary in 2014/15, did she? From what you've said she was working that year so it's her salary you'd use for a 2016/17 application.

It looks like the form has a section for if there's a big adjustment for the current year.

I will call them, I just wondered if anyone has any insight .

At least I know the answer to that now.

There isn't a big adjustment for this year though - as others have pointed out, your household income will remain the same.

That's the point I'm trying to make.. The form asks for taxable wage, etc. There's nothing there asking about bursary.

    I'll call em

Best bet is a full detailed breakdown and let them decide what's ignored. That way you know it's right.

If you don't agree with the award you could always request a copy of their calculations

According to Apply for Student finance/parents- and-partners.. it also requests details of unearned income, for example...

    Unearned income

    Statements showing interest or investments
Letter from a benefits agency showing what benefits you get
    Pension statements
    Income details from an accountant
    Self Assessment tax return
